Refunds are based on the period of the enrollment computed on the basis of course time expressed in clock hours. The effective date of the termination for refund purposes will be the earliest of the following:

• the last day of attendance if the student is terminated by the school
• the date of receipt of written notice from the student
• the 10th school day following the last day of attendance

The school shall refund items of extra expense to the student including instructional supplies, books, laboratory fees, service charges, rental deposits, and all other charges not later than the 30th day after the effective date of enrollment if the extra expenses are separately stated and shown in the information provided before enrollment, and the student returns to the school any property in the student's possession.

A full refund of all tuition and fees is due and refundable in each of the following cases:

• if an enrollee is not accepted by the school
• if the course of the instruction is discontinued by the school at this location
• if the student's enrollment was procured as a result of any misrepresentation in advertising, promotional materials of the school, or misrepresentation by the owner or representation of the school

Refunds shall be completed within 30 days after the effective day of termination.

In Texas, you can start the classroom portion of driver's education at 14 years old, but you cannot get a learner's permit until you are 15. The full driver's license can be obtained at 16, provided certain requirements are met, including holding a learner's permit for at least six months. 

Please print out and bring all of the required documents to take the road test.

Teen Applicant (16 - 17 years of age)

• Applicant's proof of identification must include one of the following:
• Texas Class C learner's license with "B & F" restrictions (card)
• Temporary Class C learner's license with "B & F" restrictions (paper copy)
• Parent or guardian must bring their current driving license.
• Verification of Enrollment (VOE) and Attendance form
• Behind-The-Wheel Instruction Log - 30 Hours
• Impact Texas Teen Driver (ITTD) video course completion certificate
• 32-hours Teen Course completion certificate (DE-964 form)

All applicants under 18 years of age must hold their permit for 6 months prior to taking the DPS road test. Don't schedule a road test until after you have held the permit for 6 months. Your actions will result in a forfeiture of your $65 on test day.

Adult Applicant (18 years of age and older)

Impact Texas Young Driver (ITYD) video course completion certificate

Applicant's proof of identification must include one of the following:

• Texas Class C driver license with "B" restriction (card)
• Temporary Class C driver's license with "B" restriction (paper copy)

Whether you take your DPS Road Test with Five Star Driving School or wait for an appointment at the DPS, you will need to complete the IMPACT Texas Teen 2-Hour Course. The IMPACT Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) was developed by the Department of Public Safety with the goal of saving lives through awareness and education. The ITTD brings awareness about the dangers of distracted driving and enforces that safe driving is built upon mindful choices and habits. Remember to put away the distractions in the car and drive safely!

If you are between 18 and 24 and completed a minor drivers education course (DE-964 Certificate), you will be required to complete the 2-hour IMPACT Texas Teens Drivers Education Course and must bring a parent or guardian for the driving test.

Applicants ages 18-and older are also required to complete the ITYD.

Applicants under age 18 are also required to complete the ITTD.

The Impact Texas certification does not display an expiration date; however, the certificate is only valid for 90 days.  If the applicant does not pass the driving skills examination within 90 days of the date on the certificate, they must review the video a second time.

Yes, Texas law requires all teens to complete BTW training with a licensed instructor to obtain a driver's license.

Teens that completed the Parent Taught Class, must complete their in-car driving lessons with a parent. Driving schools are not allowed to drive teens that took the Parent Taught Course. 

If you need to change or cancel a drive time, you must sign into your account on our website. Drive time must be canceled 24 hours in advance. 

You must take the following items to the Texas Department of Public Safety when you apply for your Texas Learner's Permit:

• Student's birth certificate (original or certified copy only), US passport, or Resident Alien Card
• Social Security Card - Original
• Verification of Enrollment (VOE) and Attendance Form (get from your high school)
• Parent's proof of Texas residency (2 documents are needed, i.e. utility bills)
• Parent's proof of relationship to student
• DE-964 Form (get from the driving school)
• Parent must sign the Texas residency affidavit at the DPS.

Texas will allow you to drive in another state with a learner's permit, but because policies do change, it is best to contact the DMV or DPS in the states you are planning to visit. The following states ban permitted drivers: Arizona, Hawaii, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Vermont, and the District of Columbia.

A learner's permit is valid for 30 days. If you have not received your learner's permit in the mail by the third week, you can track it by visiting the TX DPS website.  If you drive with an expired paper permit, you can receive a citation for an invalid license.

Parents must prove their relationship to the student before student will be issued a permit or license. Acceptable documentation includes marriage license, birth certificate, military dependent ID card, or adoption records.

Parents must also provide two documents proving they are Texas residents before the teen is eligible to obtain a permit or license. Acceptable documents include Texas voter's registration card, Texas auto registration or title, auto insurance policy or statement, homeowner's insurance policy, or utility or cable bill not more than 90 days old. The name on the bills/statements must be the name of the parent accompanying the student to the DPS. Parents must also sign a Texas Residency Affidavit at the DPS office.
